about the project

tech kits is a product and visual identity project developed for digital codesign, a company focused on creating technological products for educational innovation within the steam field. the project was conceived as a multidisciplinary collaboration between design, engineering, and communication teams, where i participated as a graphic designer, leading the aesthetic and visual direction of products developed by engineers.

the project was structured into two main parts: the visual identity system for the basic educational kits and the identity of the flagship product, mentorbit, later supported by a crowdfunding campaign. a shared objective across all products was to bring technology closer to adolescents, using a visual language that felt familiar, playful, and accessible, reducing the perception of complexity or intimidation often associated with electronics and programming.

from a strategic perspective, the identity needed to maintain a clear visual hierarchy between products, allowing users to easily understand their role and importance, while remaining flexible enough to incorporate future products without disrupting the system. cost efficiency was also a key factor, focusing on low-cost materials and smart design decisionsthat added value without requiring large investments.

my role covered the art direction and execution of the visual identity, close collaboration with engineering and marketing teams, illustration development, product graphics, packaging design, merchandising, and preparation for print. i was also responsible for designing and prototyping all packaging solutions, from basic components to high-end kits, ensuring coherence across the entire product ecosystem.

result & outcome

the final result is a coherent and approachable product system that connects with young audiences and presents electronics and programming as a playful, intuitive learning experience rather than a technical barrier. the use of flat, colourful illustrations inspired by classic board games reinforces the idea of learning through play, making the products feel friendly, recognisable, and engaging.

this project allowed me to deepen my understanding of hands-on packaging development, from manual prototyping and testing to print production and assembly, as well as art direction for crowdfunding campaigns, including infographics, visuals, promotional videos, and social media content. seeing tech kits currently used in educational centres across the canary islands confirms the impact of a design approach that prioritises clarity, empathy, and accessibility.
